After topping 50 wins for the first time in franchise history the Pistons play mediocre basketball finishing in 3rd place with a 40-42 record. However, under a newly expanded playoff format the Pistons would make it into the postseason. However, once again the Pistons would fall in the first round as they were beaten by the Seattle Supersonics in a 3-game series.
