New Denver Broncos linebacker Alex Singleton entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent out of Montana State with the Seattle Seahawks in 2015. He went to training camp with the ‘Hawks that summer and while he didn’t make the 53-man roster, he did form a relationship with quarterback Russell Wilson during his time in Seattle. - Singleton later had brief stints with the New England Patriots and Minnesota Vikings followed by a three-year run in the CFL. He then returned to the NFL in 2019 and spent three years with the Philadelphia Eagles and faced the Seahawks three times, including a playoff game in 2020. - “I was lucky enough to spend part of the 2015 season in Seattle,” Singleton said on Monday. “They had just come off back-to-back Super Bowl appearances, winning one. Just seeing how Russell conducted himself then and getting to play against him when I was in Philadelphia. We played in 2019 and 2020. We played them multiple times during those years. The leader he was to me as a young pro in this league and seeing it come full circle and become teammates again. - “On a personal level, that’s what made it exciting about coming here — just knowing the leader and guy he is on and off the field. He’s a leader. In the years that we’ve all watched him play, he’s a guy that leads teams to wins, and that’s what this league is all about — getting Ws. I’m really excited to be part of that.” - Singleton certainly isn’t the only new Bronco excited about teaming up with Wilson — pass-rusher Randy Gregory and defensive lineman DJ Jones also referenced the quarterback playing a role in their decisions to sign with the Broncos. - Wilson’s arrival has certainly created a feeling of optimism in Denver. - A New Hope: Will Broncos win Super Bowl 57? - Powered By PickUp - Follow the Broncos Wire Podcast: - Apple Podcasts | Spotify | Google Podcasts - - - List - - Russell Wilson trade: Seahawks fan provides Seattle perspective for Broncos fans - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Email - - - - - Sign up - - - - - - - - Like this article? - Sign up for the Broncos Wire email newsletter to get our top stories in your inbox every morning - - - - An error has occured - - - Please re-enter your email address. - - - - - - Thanks for signing up! - - - You'll now receive the top Broncos Wire stories each day directly in your inbox.
