Presley made his NHL debut with the Blackhawks during the 1984-85 season, quickly establishing himself as a reliable player on the ice. During his tenure with the Blackhawks, Presley enjoyed several productive seasons. One of his standout years came in the 1986-87 season when he scored 32 goals and added 29 assists, totaling 61 points. In 1991, Presley was traded to the San Jose Sharks, a team that was in its early years in the NHL.
