Rocco Baldelli's journey in Major League Baseball began when he was drafted by the Tampa Bay Devil Rays as the sixth overall pick in the 2000 MLB Draft. Known for his athleticism and speed, Baldelli quickly rose through the minor league ranks, making his MLB debut with the Devil Rays on March 31, 2003. In his rookie season, he impressed with a .289 batting average, 11 home runs, and 78 RBIs, finishing third in the American League Rookie of the Year voting.

Baldelli's early career was marked by his impressive outfield defense and base-running abilities. In 2004, he continued to perform well, maintaining a .280 batting average and contributing 16 home runs. However, his career faced a significant challenge in 2005 when he suffered a torn ACL during the offseason, which required surgery and caused him to miss the entire season.

Returning in 2006, Baldelli showed resilience, hitting .302 with 16 home runs in just 92 games. Unfortunately, his career was soon plagued by a series of injuries and a rare mitochondrial disorder that caused muscle fatigue, limiting his playing time. Despite these setbacks, Baldelli remained a valuable player for the Devil Rays, who rebranded as the Tampa Bay Rays in 2008. That year, he made a remarkable comeback, contributing to the Rays' first-ever World Series appearance, although they ultimately fell to the Philadelphia Phillies.

In 2009, Baldelli signed with the Boston Red Sox, appearing in 62 games and hitting .253. His time with the Red Sox was short-lived, and he returned to the Rays in 2010, playing in just 10 games before retiring as a player due to ongoing health issues.

Transitioning from player to coach, Baldelli joined the Rays' front office in 2011 as a special assistant. His knowledge of the game and experience on the field made him a valuable asset in player development. In 2015, he was named the Rays' first base coach, a role he held until 2018.

In October 2018, Baldelli was hired as the manager of the Minnesota Twins, becoming the youngest manager in the major leagues at the time. His managerial debut in 2019 was a resounding success, as he led the Twins to 101 wins and an American League Central Division title. Baldelli's efforts were recognized when he was named the American League Manager of the Year.

Under Baldelli's leadership, the Twins continued to perform well, securing another division title in the shortened 2020 season. However, the team faced challenges in the postseason, unable to advance past the first round. Despite a difficult 2021 season, Baldelli remained at the helm, focusing on developing young talent and building a competitive team for the future.
