Jason Zucker, an American professional ice hockey player, began his NHL career with the Minnesota Wild. Drafted 59th overall in the second round of the 2010 NHL Entry Draft, Zucker quickly became known for his speed and scoring ability. He made his NHL debut with the Wild during the 2011-2012 season, appearing in six games and scoring his first NHL goal.
Zucker's role with the Wild expanded over the following seasons. By the 2013-2014 season, he had established himself as a regular in the lineup, contributing significantly to the team's offensive efforts. His breakout season came in 2014-2015 when he scored 21 goals in 51 games, demonstrating his potential as a goal scorer. Unfortunately, his season was cut short due to a broken collarbone, but his performance had already solidified his place on the team.
Over the next few years, Zucker continued to be a consistent offensive presence for the Wild. In the 2016-2017 season, he set career highs with 22 goals and 25 assists, totaling 47 points. The following season, he improved those numbers, scoring 33 goals and 31 assists for 64 points, which led to a five-year contract extension with the Wild in 2018.
Zucker's tenure with the Wild came to an end in February 2020 when he was traded to the Pittsburgh Penguins. The trade was part of the Penguins' effort to bolster their lineup for a playoff push. Zucker quickly adapted to his new team, scoring 12 points in 15 games before the season was paused due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
In Pittsburgh, Zucker continued to be a valuable player, known for his ability to play on both wings and contribute offensively. His time with the Penguins was marked by his versatility and ability to play alongside various linemates, including star players like Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin.
Throughout his career, Zucker was also known for his community involvement. While with the Wild, he and his wife Carly spearheaded the "Give16" campaign, which raised funds for the Zucker Family Suite and Broadcast Studio at the University of Minnesota Masonic Children's Hospital. This initiative highlighted his commitment to giving back to the community and supporting children's health.
Zucker's career was characterized by his speed, scoring touch, and ability to adapt to different roles and teams.
