Aldon Smith, known for his prowess on the football field, began his professional career when he was drafted by the San Francisco 49ers in the first round of the 2011 NFL Draft. As a linebacker, Smith quickly demonstrated his ability to disrupt opposing offenses with his exceptional pass-rushing skills. In his rookie season, he recorded 14 sacks, setting a franchise record for the most sacks by a rookie and earning him a spot on the NFL All-Rookie Team.

Smith's second season in the NFL was even more impressive. He amassed 19.5 sacks, which ranked him second in the league for that year. His performance helped the 49ers reach Super Bowl XLVII, although they ultimately fell to the Baltimore Ravens. Smith's efforts did not go unnoticed, as he was selected for the Pro Bowl and named a First-Team All-Pro in 2012.

Despite his on-field success, Smith's career was marred by off-field issues. In 2013, he faced legal troubles and was suspended for nine games during the 2014 season for violating the NFL's personal conduct and substance abuse policies. These challenges affected his tenure with the 49ers, and he was released by the team in August 2015 following an arrest.

Smith's career continued with the Oakland Raiders, who signed him in September 2015. He played nine games that season, recording 3.5 sacks, before receiving a one-year suspension from the NFL for further violations of the league's substance abuse policy. This suspension was extended indefinitely, and Smith did not play in the 2016 or 2017 seasons.

In 2018, Smith faced additional legal issues, leading to his release from the Raiders. After several years away from the game, he made a surprising return to the NFL in 2020, signing with the Dallas Cowboys. Smith played in all 16 games that season, starting in 16 of them, and recorded five sacks. His comeback was seen as a testament to his talent and ability to perform at a high level despite the challenges he faced throughout his career.
