Alain Nasreddine, a Canadian professional ice hockey player and coach, spent much of his career navigating the ranks of the National Hockey League (NHL) and the American Hockey League (AHL). Born on July 10, 1975, in Montreal, Quebec, Nasreddine was drafted by the Florida Panthers in the sixth round of the 1993 NHL Entry Draft. Although he began his professional career with the Panthers, he never played a game for the team, instead honing his skills in the minor leagues.

Nasreddine's NHL debut came with the Chicago Blackhawks during the 1998-1999 season. His time with the Blackhawks was brief, and he soon found himself moving between teams, including the Montreal Canadiens and the New York Islanders. Despite limited appearances in the NHL, Nasreddine became a reliable presence in the AHL, where he played for teams such as the Fredericton Canadiens, Quebec Citadelles, and the Bridgeport Sound Tigers.

In 2004, Nasreddine signed with the Pittsburgh Penguins organization, where he spent the majority of his playing career. He played primarily for the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins, the AHL affiliate of the Pittsburgh Penguins. His tenure with the Penguins organization was marked by his role as a steady defenseman, known for his leadership qualities and ability to mentor younger players. Nasreddine's NHL appearances with the Pittsburgh Penguins were limited, but he was valued for his experience and defensive skills.

After retiring from professional play, Nasreddine transitioned into coaching. He began his coaching career as an assistant coach with the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins in 2010. His familiarity with the team and the league made him a natural fit for the role. In 2015, Nasreddine was promoted to the NHL as an assistant coach for the New Jersey Devils, working under head coach John Hynes. His responsibilities included focusing on the team's defense and penalty kill strategies.

In December 2019, Nasreddine was named interim head coach of the New Jersey Devils following the dismissal of John Hynes. During his time as interim head coach, Nasreddine faced the challenge of guiding a team in transition, working to improve their performance and instill a competitive mindset. Although the Devils did not make the playoffs under his leadership, Nasreddine's efforts were recognized, and he remained with the organization as an assistant coach after the hiring of Lindy Ruff as head coach in 2020.
