The Baseball Hall of Fame Remembers Red Schoendienst
The National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum mourns the passing of Class of 1989 member Red Schoendienst. February 2, 1923 – June 6, 2018.
The NNL survived controversies over umpiring, scheduling, and what some perceived as league president Rube Foster's disproportionate influence and favoritism toward his own team. It also outlasted Foster's decline into mental illness in 1926, and its eastern rival, the ECL. In the 1926 Colored World Series, the Chicago American Giants, champions of the Negro National League (1920–1931), beat the Bacharach Giants of Atlantic City, New Jersey, champions of the Eastern Colored League, five games to four. Red Grier of the Bacharach Giants pitched a no-hitter in Game 3
