Even after the creation of the Negro National League in 1920, and later the Eastern Colored League, many teams were not invited, or chose not to join. Instead, they played as independents, and would often schedule the barnstorming of small towns and play local semi-pro teams as well as league games. By the mid 1930s, most independent teams had joined the NAL or NNL.
I sincerely appreciate the research work, and the information being shared. It is important and interesting history.
