The 2019 NFL season was the 100th season of the National Football League (NFL) and the 54th of the Super Bowl era. The season began on September 5, 2019 with the NFL Kickoff Game, in which the Green Bay Packers defeated the Chicago Bears 10–3. The season concluded with Super Bowl LIV, the league's championship game, on February 2, 2020, at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, Florida between the American Football Conference (AFC) champion Kansas City Chiefs and the National Football Conference (NFC) champion San Francisco 49ers. The Chiefs defeated the 49ers 31–20 to win their second Super Bowl championship. This was the final NFL season with the 12 team playoff format. This was also the last year of the Washington Redskins name and logo, as it was changed for the Washington Football Team in the 2020 NFL season.
